On December 5 and December 6 on 2016, Major League Gaming organized the event called the MLG Pro League Smite Championship. Just like many other eSports events, this event was also organized in MLG Arena in Columbus, Ohio. This competition is actually the final competition before the SMITE World Championship and the winners of the MLG Pro League Smite Championship will qualify for the SMITE World Championship tournament. Unlike some other eSports competitions, MLG Pro League Summit Championship featured six teams competing for the prize pool of 50,000 dollars and the place at the SMITE World Championship.
Format of the Competition
The format of the competition is also organized a bit different than at some other competitions because the already mentioned six teams immediately faced each other in a Single Elimination Bracket without any matches in the Group Play. The winner of every Single Elimination Bracket was determined by best-of-3 games. However, the winner of the last match of the tournament or the Grand Finals was determined by the best-of-5 games. As already mentioned, the winner of this event qualified for the SMITE World Championship. However, if the winner of this competition has already qualified, the runner up at this tournament would advanced to the SMITE World Championship.
