MLG Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Americas Minor Championship was held back in May of 2016, specifically from May 19 to May 22. Once again this event was organized by the Major League Gaming and it was held in MLG Arena in Columbus.
This competition featured matches in which eight teams participated. These eight teams were selected in two ways. The first way was the invitations that certain teams received and the second way in which these teams were selected were the Online qualifications. The number of teams that received the invitations was four and those teams are NRG eSports, Tempo Storm, OpTic Gaming and Selfless Gaming. As previously mentioned, the remaining four teams would be determined through qualifications and three teams was determined through the North America Online Qualifier while the remaining, fourth, qualifier was determined through South America Online Qualifier. These eight teams will be divided into two groups of four teams. The two best teams from each group then advanced to the Double Elimination Bracket and two teams that came of the best from the Bracket advanced to the Major LAN Qualifier.
The Prize Pool
The eight teams mentioned before competed at this event for the prize pool of 50,000 dollars. Even though the prize pool might seem not to be that much impressive, this event still featured some very good teams and very good matches.
