Overwatch fans still have a couple of events left in 2017, but none of extraordinary magnitude. Under these circumstances, the Winter Nexus Cup is one of the most important milestones still left for this year. Some more important tournaments are scheduled for the first quarter of 2018 and they will be attended by the most important teams. Some of them were present at the Winter Nexus Cup, a tournament that required a total of seven games to decide the winner.
KongDoo Panthera made it to the finals and pushed opponents into a corner throughout the tournament. There were only a couple of teams that stood in their way and that’s why many credited them with the first chance in the final. X6 Gaming had a more difficult mission, but felt confident ahead of the decisive round and came out firing on all cylinders.
Seven Maps to Decide a Winter Nexus Cup Winner
The Winter Nexus Cup finals began with a victory for X6 simply because they qualified through this stage from the winners’ brackets. This gives them an advantage early on and they were capable of building up on that with another victory. However, KongDoo Panthera fought back valiantly and three games later, they were one match ahead.
By this time it was obvious that no team would give up without a fight and X6 leveled the score and won another match in a relatively quick succession. They were able to turn the series around and with victories on Nepal and Eichenwalde they became the latest winners of the Winter Nexus Cup.
