The Groups for the League of Legends World Championship are now Official
By Frankie Price on Sep 13, 2017

Arguably the most exciting event for League of Legends fans and players, the World Championship is about to start. We now know the official groups for the tournament, each of them containing four teams. Almost all of the top squads are lined up and ready to compete for a significant prize pool and glory once the group stage begins on September 23.

The first week will provide teams with the opportunity to test new strategies and surprise opponents. By the time the elimination round begins in early October, only the very best teams will still be standing. Several teams were still in the race for the last places and we now have the official groups, but with a couple of teams missing. There are still four squads left to qualify, but at least League of Legends know the favorites from each group.

SK Telecom Favorites to Win the LoL World Championship

SK Telecom T1 is likely to dominate Group A regardless of the fourth team, while Longzhu Gaming and Immortals will fight for dominance in Group B. Another interesting competition is likely to take place in group C where Samsung Galaxy and G2 Esports will lock horns. Last but definitely not least, Group D looks like the widest open, with Misfits, TSM and Flash Wolves already confirmed.

The elimination round will start on October 5 and only two teams from each group will qualify so there’s a lot of pressure on the 16 participants. As soon as we find out the names of the remaining four teams, the group stage will be updated.
