Call of Duty: WWII fans are in for a treat as the seasonal event kicks off today with plenty of in-game presents. For those who play the first-person shooter from Sledgehammer Games, Christmas comes earlier and there are plenty of new features to explore. The Headquarters were decorated to capture the very essence of the winter holidays and players can also expect a new Quartermaster.

The arrival of the Winter Siege event will bring in the spotlight more than a handful of new guns. Those who have played the previous installments in the franchise will surely recognize some of the most iconic weapons. Fans of the semi automatic assault rifles are in for a treat and the same goes for the ones wielding submachine guns on the field of battle.

    Winter Carentan Available for Free

Inspired by a classic Call of Duty map, this festive version is available for free to all those who play the Sledgehammer Games players will also have the opportunity to compete in a unique game mode and receive random weapons each time they score a kill. All these changes will only influence the manner in which casual games are being played, without impacting competitive matches.

The patch notes also highlight the fact that many updates are being made to the console version. The Call of Duty: WWII Winter Siege event starts today and will keep players at the edge of their seats until January 2.
