A couple of days before the official unveiling of the Hearthstone’s new expansion, a Chinese website spoiled the theme. News got out quickly about the fact that the game will take players on a virtual trip to the mythical land of Northrend. In this frozen waste, players will wield cards inspired by the Death Knight made popular by Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft.
The news was confirmed when Hearthstone Knights of the Frozen Throne was officially unveiled by Blizzard. This expansion will feature cards capable of turning the games classes into the frightening Death Knights. They have unique abilities and skills inspired by the monsters roaming in the Icecrown Citadel raid in World of Warcraft. The game is scheduled for international release in August and will add a new layer of complexity to the most popular online card game.
New Hero Cards and Single Player Missions
Hearthstone's latest expansion will feature new hero cards and abilities such as Battlecry on top of the extra armor. Players will have more options to combine cards to unlock additional abilities and surprise opponents during the fight. Lifesteal abilities are also coming to Hearthstone Knights of the Frozen Throne, converting damage done into hit points.
The game will bring back the popular single player missions that were missing from the previous expansion. There are no more full Adventure sets in Hearthstone with Knights of the Frozen Throne, but instead 8 new quests were added. They will pit players against the easy to recognize bosses from the World of Warcraft Icecrown Citadel raid.
