Dota 2 PGL Bucharest Major 2018 will build on the tremendous success of the previous edition. With a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million and a not so negligible 1500 DPC this competition will attract some of the best teams. A couple of them will secure direct invitations, but many will need to qualify and the road to the main event appears to be long and twisted.
The competition is scheduled to take place at the Polyvalent Hall in Bucharest, starting on March 4 and completing one week later. A total of six teams will make their way to the tournament by winning regional qualifiers. Participants from all over the world have a chance to play in this event, with the first qualifiers starting on January 2 for China. Most of the participants will be decided between January 8 and January 14, when the rest of the qualifiers will take place.
Live Audience for Dota 2 Matches
The Polyvalent Hall in Bucharest can accommodate a significant crowd and it is expected to be sold out for this event. There is already tremendous interest for video games in Romania and the previous editions proved to be huge successes. The matches played in the group stage will take place at the PGL offices, but the decisive rounds will unfold in front of a live audience.
We already know the names of the 10 teams who secured direct invitations. Three of them come from China, two are local favorites from the European Union and just as many from the United States. Russia and Ukraine send one representative and Mineski will represent Southeast Asia.
