Paladins Champions of the Realm is one the latest cooperative shooters, challenging hero-based teams to capture objectives. Players get to choose between a nice variety of champions, each with unique abilities and attributes. It bears similarities with flagship games produced by Valve and Blizzard Entertainment, but has an original gameplay that keeps players hooked.
Two Teams Fight for Supremacy
Learning the ropes in Paladins Champions of the Realm is not a time-consuming process, thanks to the straightforward gameplay. The game starts with two teams at the opposite end of the map, trying to secure and deliver certain objectives. Victory belongs to those who secure 4 points before their opponents and action is intense on the small and relatively open map.
Compared to other hero based cooperative shooters, Paladins Champions of the Realm has a small and simple map. Outflanking opponents is easy, but players don’t get the time to craft complex strategies. The game is defined by nonstop action that requires perfect timing and outstanding teamwork. Individual skills do matter, but in the great scheme of things superior team-play will always trump talent.
An Impressive Roster of Champions
When playing Paladins Champions of the Realm, players need to choose one of these heroes available. These are grouped into four distinct categories, which go by the name of Front Line, Damage, Support and Flank. In order to maximize the chance of success, teams need to have a balanced mix of heroes serving different roles.
Each champion has a total of five abilities that get increasingly powerful as the game unfolds. It all culminates with the use of the Ultimate, the most powerful of all skills available. The size of the roster and the sheer differences between the heroes lead to a complex gameplay, full of surprises. However, these characters don’t have a compelling story, as Paladins Champions of the Realm is not a narrative driven game.
