Call of Duty: WWII is a new installment in the first-person shooter video game franchise published by Activision and developed by Sledgehammer games. It is aimed at returning to the roots of the franchise and just as the name suggests takes players back in time to experience the bloody battles of World War II. The game can be played on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 consoles as well as Microsoft Windows powered computers. It closely follows the battles fought by the 1st Infantry Division during Operation Overlord.
Gameplay of Call of Duty: WWII
Fans of the franchise will find many similarities between the gameplay of Call of Duty: WWII and the previous first-person shooters in the franchise. Some of the biggest changes include the removal of the system of movement used in the last two games. Developers wanted to make the game more authentic, even though this meant that Call of Duty: WWII would have a steep difficulty curve. Some of the popular mechanics from the previous games in the series developed by Treyarch have returned as well.
Call of Duty: WWII Graphics and Sounds
Call of Duty: WWII was praised for returning to the roots of the franchise and for ditching any sci-fi elements. It is a visually superior version of any other World War II games in the series and one of the best looking war simulators ever made. The single player campaign is story driven and enhanced by the detailed characters, crisp colors and fluid animations. Developers emphasized the importance of creating an authentic atmosphere and made good use of an epic soundtrack and awe-inspiring audios. Players who want to experience something different can get their thrills from the Zombies standout mode.
Call of Duty: WWII was the most anticipated first-person shooter of 2017 and an important milestone for the Call of Duty franchise. The story driven campaign, challenging gameplay, action-packed multiplayer and the fun Nazi Zombies mode largely met the high expectations. Despite having some really big boots to fill, it delivers a memorable World War II experience and has extraordinary replayability in both single player and multiplayer.
